This high-level panel brings together leading voices in the emerging field of PeaceTech to explore how digital technologies are shaping the future of peacebuilding and mediation across borders. As part of the 2024 Bologna Peacebuilding Forum, the session will highlights both the transformative potential and the ethical dilemmas posed by technology in conflict-affected and fragile contexts.

Hosted in the historic Cappella Farnese, the session opens the Forum and will set the tone for three days of forward-looking dialogue on peace, inclusion, and innovation.

The panel will explore how digital technologies are reshaping peace mediation and peacebuilding practices, offering both new possibilities and complex challenges. Speakers will examine how digital tools can enhance participation in mediation processes, particularly for underrepresented groups, while also addressing the risks posed by surveillance, misinformation, and exclusion.
